Welcome
The English Lake District, situated in the North-West of England, is one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in the world and an ideal place for a break. With stunning scenery and countless walks there is always somewhere new to explore.
Here I share with you photos and descriptions of some of my favourite places and walks in the Lakes, and hope they encourage you to try them for yourself. However, if the Lake District is too far away from home then try my virtual walk of Alcock Tarn.
Although the height of Summer is the most popular time of year to visit, I personally prefer Autumn, as it is less busy and the array of colours makes the scenery more beautiful. Transport around the Lakes is straight forward and need not be by car as there are plenty of buses and boats. Accomodation is fairly expensive though, starting from around £30 per night per person for bed and breakfast. For those who enjoy a drink after a long (or short!) walk there are plently of places to choose from, as the Lake District benefits from having one of the country's highest concentration of classic rural pubs and inns.
All music on this site is written by Andrew Keeling and has been inspired by his many walks in the lakes.
